Bahraini, 72, is 27th COVID-19 casualty in Bahrain

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the death of a 72-year-old Bahraini man, who was a registered active case of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The patient was suffering from underlying and chronic health problems. He had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team, along with all other active COVID-19 cases.

His passing marked the 27th death related to the coronavirus in Bahrain, and fifth in just three days. The Health Ministry also announced 858 additional recoveries and 654 new active cases in the span of 24 hours yesterday. The recoveries increased the total number of discharged patients to 10,326.

The new cases included 314 expatriate workers, 299 contacts of active cases, and 41 travel-related—bringing the overall total confirmed cases in Bahrain to over 15,000. As of last night, the number of active cases went down to 5,064. Of these, 69 are receiving treatment, of which 12 are in a critical condition. The total tested rose to 374,362.
