Two more COVID-19 casualties; Bahrain death toll up to 29

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the deaths of an 84-year-old Bahraini woman and a 78-year-old resident, both of whom were registered active cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and suffering from underlying and chronic health problems. The patients, along with all other active COVID-19 cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24- hour treatment from a specialised medical team.
Their passing brought the coronavirus-related death toll in Bahrain to 29—seven of those in just the past four days. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also announced the detection of 314 new active COVID-19 cases. They were among 169 expatriate workers and 136 contacts of active cases, while nine were travel-related.
There were 5,096 active cases as of last night, 68 of which were receiving treatment, with 12 in critical condition. The remaining 5,084 were all stable. An additional 280 recoveries from COVID-19 were also announced, increasing the total discharged to 10,606. The total tested rose to 378,235 following 3,873 new tests conducted.
