Health Ministry issues update on services permitted in women’s beauty salons

TDT | Manama

The Ministry of Health’s Public Health Department issued an update last night on the services permitted in women’s beauty salons, after receiving a number of enquiries. The department stated that the services may be provided as long as the health requirements for each service are followed, in order to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Public Health Department also pointed out the need to wear face masks and gloves at all times in salons, except when doing a service that requires their removal. All other precautionary measures previously announced by the Health Ministry before the re-opening of beauty salons must also be strictly followed.

The updated permitted services and their related requirements include:

•Eyebrow drawing or eyebrow shaping by using single-use razors and disposing of them after each customer.

• Eyebrow and facial hair removal services using wax, provided that the wax container is filled with enough quantity to use on only one customer.

• Bleaching services using a single-use eyebrow brush, and disposing of them after each customer.

• Keratin services or hair treatments, provided the use of a straightening iron instead of a hairdryer.

• Hair setting using only straightening irons or curlers in general, while not allowing any type of air dryers.

• Paraffin service (hand and foot soothing wax), provided that the wax container is filled with enough quantity to use on only one customer.

• Nail-polishing service, with the requirement to wash hands or feet in warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol steriliser with a concentration of no less than 70 per cent of the alcoholic substance before servicing
