COVID-19 takes two more lives; overall cases above 16,000

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the deaths of a 72-year-old Bahraini woman and a 71-year-old resident due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Their passing brought virus-related casualties in the Kingdom to nine over the last five days and 31 overall. The deceased were registered active cases of COVID-19, suffering from underlying and chronic health problems.
Along with all other active cases, they had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also announced that out of 7,899 COVID-19 tests carried out on Tuesday, 469 new active cases were detected. They included 220 expatriate workers, 242 contacts of active cases, and seven travel-related.
Their detection brought the total number of active cases in the Kingdom to 5,060, with 79 cases receiving treatment, of which 12 are critical. The other 5,048 are all stable. The overall confirmed cases went over 16,000. There were also 503 additional recoveries from COVID-19, increasing the total discharged to 11,109. The total tested increased to 386,134.
