“Jitni Maksoor” (You came to me broken-hearted), a poem written by HM the King’s Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs representative, National Security Advisor and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has been performed as a song by popular Arab artist Assala Nasri, and composed by Ahmed Al Harmi.

“With happiness and pride, I had the honour to sing a song from the poems of HH Shaikh Nasser,” said Nasri on social media. “The song has been broadcast. The song emanates from the feelings ofa man who has been widely recognised for his good morals. He is the advocate of the oppressed.”

Nasri expressed delight at her collaboration with HH Shaikh Nasser, who, she said, is among the best poets in the Arab world. HH Shaikh Nasser said that the poet and the singer are two sides of one coin, as they strive to ensure the success of the Arab song and help it reach an international level. He stressed that it is on the right track.

HH Shaikh Nasser has directed a video for the song, and a special team is set to produce it to portray the poem’s embedded ideas. The team has contacted Radio Bahrain to air the song and distribute it to Arab radio stations on a large scale.

Keen on writing a poem whose words appeal to Arab listeners, HH Shaikh Nasser noted that the song adds to his close collaboration with the singer, who, he said, is among the most prominent in the region with an excellent voice that is capable of attracting a wider audience.
