Public Security register 4,735 face mask rule violators

A total of 4,735 violations of the rule to wear face masks in public places have been registered since it was first declared as part of measures to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). This was revealed by Public Security Operations and Training Affairs assistant chief Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who stressed that legal measures will continue to be taken against violators, as per the Public Security presidency’s instructions.
From the total violations, the Northern Governorate recorded 1,579 violations, 1,166 were in the Capital Governorate, 958 in the Muharraq Governorate, and 803 in the Southern Governorate. The Public Security Operations Department recorded 167 violations, while the Ports Security recorded 62 violations.
The assistant chief pointed out that it is very important that citizens and residents must follow the rules issued by the relevant authorities. Social distancing must be maintained at markets, commercial stores and parks; while groups of more than five must not gather together and everyone must adhere to wearing masks in public, he stressed.
The assistant chief added that campaigns targeting various segments of society are being rolled out to enhance citizens’ and residents’ awareness about the importance of the issue.
