Plans reviewed for integrated police training village

TDT | Manama

Proposed designs and requirements for the launch of a model training village at the Royal Police Academy were reviewed during the 48th meeting of the Academy’s Scientific Council, held virtually. Public Security chief and the Academy Scientific Council head Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan chaired the remote conference.

The review was based on the directives of the board, with the aim to support theoretical aspects through real-life simulation. The village features the latest technologies in the security field and the world of crime, which would empower trainees to be fully aware of the developments through theoretical and practical training.

Also during the meeting, Al Hassan praised the members’ diligence and tireless efforts to develop scientific and training curricula, and stressed moving forward with the implementation of the directives of the Minister of Interior and the Academy’s Board of Trustees chairman.

They included focusing on the high quality of educational and training programmes and the continuous development of curricula to keep pace with security changes and challenge increases. The meeting further discussed the proposed training programme for volunteers to serve in the public security.

The Council tackled a proposal to establish a Center for Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation for Governance of Academic Tasks and Administrations, according to systematic management, in line with higher education institutions.

A report on the interactive forum “COVID-19 and the future of education and training in police academies and colleges” was presented by the commander of the officers’ training college. The forum, held in Dubai, addressed the future of education in police academies and colleges and discussed the possibility, advantages and challenges of switching to distance education.
