An Air India Express flight departed yesterday from Bahrain for Thiruvananthapuram with 181 passengers including two infants on board. The repatriation flight fell under the Indian government’s “Vande Bharat Misssion” (VBM) to take their stranded overseas citizens back home. The flight travelled to the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram via the coastal city of Calicut, both in the Indian state of Kerala.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that as many as 2,50,087 Indian nationals stranded abroad have been repatriated since the beginning of the VBM phase three last month. The current phase of the mission commenced midway through this month and India has organised 550 flights including 191 feeder flights within it’s ambit.
