NCC organises visit to medical centre

TDT | Manama

The National Communication Centre (NCC) organised a field visit for journalists yesterday to the Crown Prince Center for Training and Medical Research (CTMR), the first simulation-based medical facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain. They were given a tour of the facility’s rooms, equipped with the latest medical robots, screens that display electrocardiograms, measure pulse oxygenation, blood pressure, arterial waves, pulmonary artery waves, and anaesthesia gas.

Journalists also collected information about the advanced training, medical services and research methods that are used at the centre. The highest quality standards in simulation-based education are maintained at the centre, using the latest technologies and the best learning methods in the region. Journalists explored the simulation labs where new doctors train for 50 hours before performing operations on the ground.

They also noted that every room is equipped with cameras and audio devices, allowing direct worldwide broadcast and tele-medical review as well. CTMR director, Brigadier Dr Khalid Abdulghaffar Abdulla appreciated the NCC’s role in highlighting the national efforts to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The director emphasised the Royal Medical Services commandant, Major General Professor Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa’s vision for the Crown Prince’s centre. That is, the centre’s dedication to provide high-quality simulation-based medical education with the aim of raising the level of knowledge and skills of health professionals. Thus, ensuring their excellence.
