COVID-19 death toll rises to 65; 643 new active cases

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday the deaths of two Bahraini men from the coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the overall number of virus-related casualties in the Kingdom to 65. The deceased were aged 90 and 87. The Health Ministry expressed its condolences to the victims’ families.
Meanwhile, it was announced early this morning that out of 7,927 COVID-19 tests conducted yesterday, 643 new cases were detected. From these, 371 were expatriate workers, 262 were contacts of active cases, and 10 were travel-related. Their detection brought the overall confirmed cases in Bahrain to more than 22,000 from the time the first cases were registered.
There were also 443 additional recoveries from the virus yesterday, the Health Ministry reported. After confirming that the patients were free of the virus, they were released from their respective isolation and treatment centres.
That brought the total number of discharged in Bahrain to 16,862.The total number of current active cases increased to 5,480, of which 148 are receiving treatment, with 37 in critical condition. The total tested increased to 485,715.
