Two more COVID-19 deaths; confirmed cases in Bahrain surpass 23,000

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday two more deaths from the coronavirus (COVID-19). Both of the deceased were Bahraini men. They were aged 57 and 91. Their passing brought the overall number of virus-related casualties in the Kingdom to 67. The Health Ministry expressed its condolences to the victims’ families.
Meanwhile, it was announced early this morning that out of 8,313 COVID-19 tests conducted yesterday, 655 new cases were detected. From these, 379 were expatriate workers, 264 were contacts of active cases, and 12 were travel-related. Their detection brought the overall confirmed cases in Bahrain to more than 23,000 from the time the first cases were reported.
There were also 588 additional recoveries from the virus yesterday, the Health Ministry said. After confirming that the patients were free of COVID-19, they were released from their respective isolation and treatment centres. That brought the total number of discharged in Bahrain to 17,450.
The total number of current active cases increased to 5,545, of which 117 are receiving treatment, with 36 in critical condition. The remaining 5,509 are stable. The total tested increased to 494,028.
