The precautionary home quarantine period for travellers and contacts of coronavirus (COVID-19) active cases has been reduced from 14 days to 10 days, the National Taskforce for Combatting COVID-19 announced last night.
The decision was made following an extensive study and after detailed discussions in their meeting yesterday, headed by Supreme Council of Health president Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The National Taskforce reviewed precautionary and preventive measures being taken in line with global developments related to the virus, and followed up on the implementation of plans, as required by the current circumstances. The National Taskforce expressed its appreciation to the efforts made by Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister, in dealing with the virus.
It also renewed its call to all members of society to assume responsibility and follow the health guidelines issued by the authorities, in order to ensure public health and safety and for a speedy return to normal life. The National Taskforce meets on a daily basis and tackles developments in isolation and treatment centers and COVID-19 patients’ needs, as well as the Kingdom’s requirements for medical supplies and medicines.
The team also discusses the progress in testing and follows up on results, while directing emergency teams in handling cases at all isolation and treatment centres, as well as quarantine facilities.
The National Taskforce regularly evaluates all protocols based on the latest developments at the local, regional and international levels, while continuing coordination with friendly countries on new findings. It strives to ensure that the public is informed in a transparent manner of all virus-related developments through official platforms.
