Bahrain, Italy exchange expertise in COVID-19 fight

Bahrain is exchanging experiences and expertise with a visiting Italian medical delegation on ways to mitigate and deal with the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease. This is being done with the aim of enhancing best practices in the Kingdom’s COVID-19 fight, said Supreme Council of Health president and National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus head Lt General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa.
Dr Shaikh Mohammed received yesterday members of the Italian team, who presented their experiences in fighting the virus and the Italian health sector’s strategies to face all the challenges that have come with its outbreak.
The visiting delegation will be working closely with Bahrain to review protocols used at treatment centres such as at the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital, Sitra field hospital, and the Centre for Genetic Hematology during their one-month visit.
The Bahraini team, headed by Dr Shaikh Mohammed, presented the latest developments in the Kingdom regarding COVID-19 and the precautionary and preventive measures being implemented in this regard. They also presented the latest statistics and top achievements made so far by the national medical team, supervision of quarantine, isolation and treatment centres, and follow-up on existing cases.
They further highlighted the achievements of the national medical team and the supporting sectors in supervising the quarantine, isolation and treatment centers, the follow-up on existing cases, the updating of policies, and cooperation among all parties.
Dr Shaikh Mohammed stressed that Bahrain remains committed to continuing its efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus and strengthening all precautionary and preventive measures taken to ensure everybody’s health and safety.
He lauded the full support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and thanked His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for their follow up on the efforts exerted by Team Bahrain.
The Italian delegation praised Bahrain’s COVID-19 fight, and the preventive measures and early preparations taken in line with international standards and recommendations of the World Health Organisation.
