Initiative launched to monitor summer work ban

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has launched an initiative to report abuse of workers obliged to work in open spaces between noon and 4pm in July and August. The initiative follows the Labor Ministry’s decision to ban outdoor work under the summer scorching sun.
The NIHR also called on employers in the private sector to provide facemasks and ask all workers to use them in the workplace in order to reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) among workers. It also stressed the importance of taking the temperature of all workers entering and leaving the work sites and upon leaving their accommodations.
Workers with high temperatures should be isolated immediately and the relevant procedures should be activated. The NIHR called on employers to limit mixing workers in workplaces and to reduce their numbers, particularly in rest rooms, waiting rooms, and changing rooms, as well as in vehicles that transport the workers within the workplace and to and from work sites.
