Bahrain has mourned veteran playwright Rashid Al Ma’awda, who passed away yesterday. The artist and writer is considered one of the pioneering cultural and literary figures in the Kingdom, and is considered among one of the first writers to influence the theatrical movement with his prolific contributions.
Poet Abdul rahman Al Ma’awda played a key role in honing the literary skills of the deceased, who showed a keen interest in culture and literacy since a tender age. He mixed with cultural and literary activities in the city of Muharraq, where he was born and raised, especially in the neighborhood in which he lived, where cultural meetings were held in the majlises of Shaikh Abdullah bin Isa Al Khalifa and Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa.
