Training development stressed

The importance of developing programmes that focus on training administrative and diplomatic employees at the Foreign Affairs Ministry was stressed yesterday by Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The Foreign Minister was speaking as he chaired an online meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Council, with the participation of the assistant foreign minister, undersecretaries, assistant undersecretaries, the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies executive director, the minister’s advisors and the council’s secretary.

The meeting was also attended by Bahrain Ambassador to France Dr Mohammed Abdulghaffar, Bahrain Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shaikh Hmood bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and a number of ministry directors. The Foreign Minister said that the the training programmes aim to strengthen performance and improve productivity to achieve the ministry’s goals and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development in the Kingdom.

The Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation of the support enjoyed by the ministry from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Premier, in order to be able to achieve its goals.

He also commended the efforts of the ministry’s staff and missions abroad to implement the Kingdom’s foreign policy, meet the needs of Bahraini citizens abroad, and promote the Kingdom at the international level.

Meanwhile, the council discussed a number of topics on its agenda, and adopted a system for employing local employees in diplomatic missions abroad, plus a working system for the grievance committee for members of the diplomatic and consular corps and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The council also approved the launch of the “Mubadara” programme, which encourages employees to present initiatives and proposals that contribute to developing performance and improving productivity. The Foreign Ministry’s council further approved the formation of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Committee, headed by the Foreign Ministry undersecretary Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa;

and the formation of the Quality and Excellence Committee headed by the operations director Ambassador Khalid Yusuf Al Jalahma. The council also reviewed the report of the Follow-up Committee on Government Action Plan, headed by the Regional and GCC Affairs undersecretary Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar. It also adopted the recommendations of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps members’ affairs committee.
