‘Be determined, be responsible’

TDT | Manama

Health Ministry undersecretary Dr Waleed Khalifa Al Manea has called on all people to keep up their determination and sense of responsibility during the Eid Al Adha holidays, and continue to adhere to all measures taken to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

People should be committed to reducing the rate of infection resulting from contact during the holidays, in order to avoid a repeat of the high number of cases that marked Eid Al Fitr in May due to complacency and the disregard of instructions issued by the relevant authorities, he said.

Dr Al Manea congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, and the people of Bahrain and of Arab and Islamic nations on Eid Al Adha.

He stressed that responsibility requires determination and solidarity through commitment to precautionary decisions and measures to overcome the pandemic, and to protect individuals and families. Dr Al Manea highlighted the significance of limiting gatherings during Eid Al Adha to family members within the same household, while adhering to the standards of social distancing and wearing masks when near the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.

People should go out only when necessary and should wear face masks and adhere to social distancing in public areas, he added. Bahrain’s efforts and endeavors to address the pandemic are proceeding according to well-studied steps, with all potential harnessed to enhance them.

The National Taskforce for Combatting COVID-19’s recommendations and regular update on all local and global developments have contributed to supporting Bahrain’s efforts, he said. Dr Al Manea lauded the efforts of the health workers and stressed that doctors and nurses have had a prominent role, and have been working diligently and persistently to ensure the health and safety of all members of society
