Southern Governorate continues labour accommodation inspections

A joint-team from the Southern Governorate and its police directorate continued its field visits to monitor the conditions of a number of shared accommodations of expatriate labour workers. The visits are in line with the directives of Southern Governor His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

They are also within the governorate’s efforts to strengthen precautionary and preventive measures being taken to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19), with an interest in reducing the intensity of labour accommodations in residential areas.

The team was headed by Southern Governorate Engineering and Investment director Eng. Khaled Abddul Latif Haji, who revealed that legal measures have been taken against 11 shared housings in the Isa Town area. He stressed on the importance of correcting the conditions of these accommodations and fulfilling all requirements set by authorities.

The engineering and investment director pointed out that the follow-up of the Southern Governor on the efforts of the joint-team stresses the importance of cooperation and coordination with various authorities to ensure the health and safety of citizens and residents.

He noted that the work being done between the joint-team comprising officials from the Southern Governorate, the General Directorate of Civil Defence, the Southern Governorate Police Directorate, the Southern Area Municipality, and the Electricity and Water Authority includes providing advice and guidance on the implementation of precautionary measures to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
