BMD issues September weather report

The Meteorological Directorate, Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication had reported in their monthly weather summary. That September 2015 goes on record as the hottest September ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.
The mean temperature of the month was 34.5 C. This is 2.1 C above the long-term normal. This goes on record as the highest mean monthly temperature for September. This is same as September 1998.
The mean maximum temperature of the month was 38.8 C. This goes on record as the highest mean maximum temperatures ever recorded in Bahrain for September since 1946. The old record was 38.7 C in September 2001 & 2008.

The highest temperature recorded in the month was 42.7 C set on 16th September due to the warm westerly winds which was dominated during that morning, according to Bahrain Meteorological Directorate (BMD).

During the month Bahrain had 5 days with maximum temperature exceeded 40 C.

The mean minimum temperature of the month was 31.5 C. This goes on record as the highest mean minimum temperature for September since 1946. The old record was 31.0 C in September 2010.

The lowest temperature recorded was 29.3 C set on the 28th September at Bahrain International Airport.

The mean relative humidity for September was 56% and the mean maximum relative humidity for the month was 75% and the mean minimum relative humidity for September was 33%.

Northwesterly winds accounted 33% only of the observation and 31% of the wind observed was prevailing from east to southeast direction with gusts reached 25 knots on the 8th September at the airport.

Dust haze reported on the 3rd September. Visibility dropped to 1300 metres at Bahrain International Airport.
