The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism issued yesterday a warning to consumers regarding macadamia nuts being sold in the market that have altered expiration dates. The ministry said that its inspection department received a complaint about the case, and an investigation was immediately carried out.
It was found that a certain brand of macadamia nuts had their validity dates changed, and upon opening the products, mold was found on the nuts. Altering expiration dates is a violation of consumer protection laws, according to the ministry, and legal measures will be taken against offenders in the case. The ministry advised consumers to thoroughly check all products before purchasing, and if there any violations, to call the inspection department on 80008001.
