The General Directorate of Civil Defence’s Protection and Safety Department has launched an awareness campaign on the requirements for fire prevention in commercial markets. This comes within the framework of awareness and educational programmes being implemented by the directorate, as part of its efforts to prevent accidents and fires.
Teams of civil defence personnel conducted campaign visits in local markets, where they emphasised safety requirements and gave information on how to deal with fires, and the importance of the availability of fire extinguishers, fire detectors and identifying fire exits and safe areas.
The visits were at made at the popular markets in Isa Town, Hamad Town and Muharraq, where posters in several languages were posted with information on how to use fire extinguishers and providing smoke detectors. The posters also shed light on how to evacuate the market and how to properly act in the event of a fire.
