Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani met with International Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Federation founding committee chairman Abdul Nabi Al Shola, along with Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Society board of directors chairman Dr Abdulhasan Al Dairi.

They discussed the latest developments in the federation’s choosing of the Kingdom as its permanent headquarters. Also present at the meeting were the ministry’s Industry Affairs undersecretary Osama Mohammed Alarrayedh, Industry Development assistant undersecretary Abdulkareem Ahmed Al Rashed, and SME Development director Shaikha Abdulla Al Fadil.

The officials spoke about the economic achievements of the Kingdom in the entrepreneurship sector and support for SMEs, which it seeks, through its vision, to achieve a global position in this vital sector, as it harnesses Bahraini businesses and it makes the most of the Kingdom’s geographical location and economic policies.

The federation’s founding committee includes more than 20 specialists from 11 countries in the fields of entrepreneurship and SME development. It will work for cooperation and coordination with authorities in all nations across the globe, such as with ministries of labour, commerce and industry; chambers of commerce; and with regional and international bodies and organisations specialised in SMEs.
