Two Bangladeshi men jailed for sickle attack

The High Criminal Court sentenced two Bangladeshi men to three years behind bars each for attacking Pakistani nationals by a sickle while they were drunk. A third countryman was tried in the same case but was acquitted due to a lack of proof. According to court files, Al Naim Police Station received a complaint from a neighbouring flat, from where loud noises were heard.
“We saw Bangladeshi men fighting with Pakistani men; one of the Bangladeshi men then brought a sickle and wanted to use it against them,” an eyewitness said. “After I reported the crime to police, I fled the scene as I was afraid that they would harm me,” he added.
As per court records, the Pakistani men suffered various injuries during the attack. The defendants were charged with attacking the victims with a cold weapon in an attempt to murder them. They will be deported once they complete their jail terms.
