Interior Minister attends joint military drill

Interior Minister Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa attended the conclusion ceremony of a joint drill between the Coast Guard and the GCC border guards forces (Gulf of Peace/5), in the presence of Chief of Public Security Major- General Tariq Al Hassan, GCC delegations and field commanders of the joint forces.

The minister was briefed on the exercise that aimed to reinforce GCC joint work to deal with border security challenges and emergencies. He was informed about the exercise phases and the participants' high competence and skills in carrying out the practical parts of the drill.

The minister highlighted the importance of the exercise for the coast and border guards to deal with piracy as well as weapon and human trafficking. He hailed the high training skills and professionalism of the participants, in addition to their dedication to reinforce maritime security. He said that this tactical exercise offers an opportunity to exchange experiences and reinforce field expertise as well as maritime operation planning to enhance security performance. He hailed the level of GCC security cooperation and coordination that has contributed in achieving many security successes, highlighting the importance to continue the diligent efforts to reinforce regional security.
