Forcing housemaid into prostiution, trial begins next month
Court will next month start hearing in a human trafficking case against a man accused of detaining a housemaid and forc- ing her into prostitution.
Public Prosecution completed its investigations into the case and referred it to the court, which will review it on September 15.
According to Bufarsen, the victim, an Asian national, was working as a domestic worker when she got acquainted with the accused through a social me- dia platform. The man through
regular chats managed to gain her trust and convinced the lady to meet him outside her employ- er’s house, only to find herself in a trap.
Court documents say, the sus- pect forcefully took the victim to his apartment in Umm Al Has- sam and assaulted her sexually.
He also detained her in the apartment and forced to have sex with several customers, from whom he collected money.
The woman, who escaped from the apartment through a window there when the man was outside, alerted police about her ordeal.
The prosecution charged the man with human trafficking.
