Airshow cancelled amid pandemic

TDT | Manama

The Bahrain International Airshow’s (BIAS) supreme organising committee has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 event, which was scheduled to be held from November 18 to 20 later this year. This is due to the ongoing challenges and travel restrictions around the world caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a statement on the BIAS’s official website said.

“Upon careful consideration of all factors and after consultation with our partners around the world, we believe this is in the best interest of all delegates, participants, and partners, and we look forward to working together to come back stronger in 2022,” the statement added. The BIAS has become one of the most important fixtures in the aerospace calendar, connecting the industry in the gateway to the Gulf.

It is hosted at Sakhir Air Base, and its first edition took place in 2010. BIAS has become the ideal opportunity to meet, connect, and network with leaders in aerospace who gather in the Kingdom to meet industry counterparts and forge new business relationships. For over a decade, BIAS has proven to be an event that connects industry in a prestigious environment, offers access to high-level delegations, and opens new avenues of opportunity to organisations of all sizes.
