COVID-19 takes one more life; 398 new cases detected

The coronavirus (COVID-19) took the life of a 73-year-old male expatriate in Bahrain yesterday, the Ministry of Health announced. That brought the number of virus-related deaths in the Kingdom to 190. The Health Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, the ministry announced early this morning that out of 7,359 COVID-19 tests conducted yesterday, 398 new cases were detected. These included 120 expatriate workers, 270 contacts of active cases, and eight travel-related cases.

Their detection brought the overall number of confirmed registered cases in Bahrain to nearly 52,000 at 51,972, dating back to when the first case was reported in February of this year. There were also 393 additional recoveries from the virus yesterday, bringing the Kingdom’s total number of discharged individuals to 49,047.

Following those recoveries, the total number of current active cases rose slightly to 2,735, with 62 receiving treatment and 36 in critical condition. The remaining 2,699 cases are stable. The total tests conducted in Bahrain increased to 1,108,088.
