Bahrain condemns Houthi attack

TDT | Manama

Bahrain has strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targetting of Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia while also commending the efforts of the Egyptian army’s anti-terror efforts in Sinai. These were expressed in separate statements yesterday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In the statement related to the attempted attack on Saudi, the ministry said: “Bahrain strongly condemns and denounces the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi militia’s attempt to target Abha International Airport in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through booby-trapped drones, in a cowardly terrorist act that targetted the lives of safe civilians and aimed to destroy civilian facilities, which is considered a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”

It continued: “The ministry praises the vigilance and readiness of the coalition forces that intercepted and destroyed the drone, and renews the firm supportive position of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the efforts of the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to confront all those who attempt to destabilise its security and stability and threaten the lives of civilians, citizens and residents.

“The ministry also reiterates its full stance in support of the deterrent measures Saudi Arabia takes to address such terrorist aggressive acts in all forms.” Meanwhile, in the statement issued on the Egyptian efforts, Bahrain has commended the “efforts of the army of the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt in eliminating dozens of terrorists and destroying hundreds of their dens, shelters and stores of explosive materials in North Sinai Governorate.”
