Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, in the presence of Housing Minister Bassem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, launched yesterday Bahrain’s new aviation information radio communication station.
The Transportation Minister said that the station is part of the ministry’s strategic projects to develop civil aviation systems and services in the Kingdom, and raising its efficiency to ensure the provision of air navigation services at the highest levels of quality and safety, with advanced technology and accurate specifications.
“This project enhances the Kingdom’s pioneering role in providing international air navigation services, in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards, in addition to supporting the safety of air traffic for aircraft arriving and departing from the airport,” he said.
The Housing Minister added that the station will contribute to developing East Hidd Town housing projects by enabling the ministry to complete the construction of infrastructure networks in the vicinity of the station’s land, thus providing the opportunity for the beneficiaries of the city’s housing to start building their units, which will increase the East Hidd City project completion rate to about 90 percent.
The project provides a safe and advanced communication environment for about 8,000 aircraft per month, arriving and departing from Bahrain International Airport, in addition to more than 600,000 aircraft transitting annually through the territory of Bahrain, which extends over an area of 83,000 square kilometers.
