Four fishermen arrested, around two tonnes of shrimp seized

Four fishermen have been arrested and three of their vehicles with 1,880 kilograms of shrimp have been seized, the Ministry of Interior stated last night. The ministry said that the Coast Guard deputy-commander reported yesterday the incident, which came after patrols caught the violators who were fishing with prohibited bottom trawls off the Sitra coast.
The deputy-commander indicated that necessary legal procedures have been completed to refer the case to the Public Prosecution, and stressed that the Coast Guard will spare no effort in implementing regulations and laws, arrest violators, and take legal measures against them. He called on all professional and amateur fishermen to adhere to the guidelines regulating fishing, in order to protect the Kingdom’s marine environment and marine wealth.
