Early renewal of vehicle registrations allowed
Director of Licensing Affairs at the General Directorate of Traffic Lt-Col. Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa said on Wednesday that 35,034 technical examination applications were processed in September.
He directed people to benefit from the new service that allowed a person to renew his car registration three months ahead of the expiry date to ease the staff’s workload and get his application processed fast.
He said some car owners insisted on having their vehicle examined on the exact date, which usually fell at the end of the month. This, he said, caused a rush and increased the staff’s workload at the end of each month.
He said that having one’s vehicle examined in advance allowed the owner time to have any technical faults repaired well in time without the need to pay any fine for the delayed renewal of registration.
He called upon the applicants to cooperate with the department and wished traffic safety to all.
