Unlicensed domestic workers supply agency shut

Legal actions are taken against a domestic workers supply organisation operating without a license in the Kingdom. The Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, in a statement, said the organisation was shut for offering domestic workers through per-hour system without a licence.
The incident came as Bahrain is set to resume the hiring of domestic workers starting this Monday, after a hiatus of nearly fourmonths due to COVID-19 outbreak. At that time, LMRA officials also warned against dealing with unlicensed domestic expatriate employment offices or using the services of domestic workers through unaccredited offices.
“Such actions will negatively impact the health of individuals, families and society,” LMRA statement said highlighting the need for increased awareness and commitment to ensure precautionary measures. In the latest incident, the top official said the action was taken in cooperation with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
The raid also resulted in arresting several house-maids associated with the now-closed organisation. Legal procedures are taken. LMRA regularly reviews the list of approved domestic expatriate employees employment offices on its website. To review the list, visit: www.lmra.bh.
There are 83 approved employment offices for domestic and expatriate workers in the Kingdom, while there are only two approved agencies licensed to supply domestic workers in the Kingdom. Bahrain Brite Services in Sanad and Al Leewan Workers Services in Arad are two approved domestic supply agencies in the Kingdom, according to LMRA website.
