The number of violations of the order to wear face masks in public places or shops has increased by around 800 to more than 24,500 in about a week. The overall total was announced yesterday by Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs assistant chief Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

Dr. Shaikh Hamad revealed the registration of 24,543 violations of not wearing face masks since the enforcement of the order. It increased from the previous total of 23,729 violations reported the previous week. Meanwhile, he also said that the various concerned departments have organized 2,751 awareness campaigns and carried out 5,768 steps to promote social distancing.

The Northern Governorate Police Directorate reported 1,548 violations related to the rule of social distancing and 5,577 violations of not wearing masks in public places. It carried 560 awareness campaigns. The Capital Governorate Police Directorate took 370 steps to protect social distancing in the district, while it reported 4,015 mask-related violations.

It also held 714 awareness campaigns. The Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate registered 1,176 social distancing violations and 6,249 mask-related violations. The department also organised 1,092 awareness campaigns. The Southern Governorate reported 2,327 social distancing violations and 3,415 mask-related violations.

The department also held 385 awareness campaigns and disinfection operations. The Public Security Presidency Operations Directorate registered 5,190 mask-related violations. It also took 347 steps to protect social distancing.

The General Directorate of Ports Security reported 97 mask-related violations and carried out operations to facilitate the evacuation of 18,217 travelers from Bahrain, along with the facilitation of coronavirus (COVID-19) testing for 84,345 travelers who arrived from abroad.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence carried 72,424 disinfecting operations of buildings, government establishments, and roads. It also carried 363 training courses on correct disinfecting methods. Dr. Shaikh Hamad hailed the awareness of the public in promoting the fight against COVID-19. He also hailed their commitment to precautionary measures against the virus.

He highlighted the continuation of the Kingdom’s police directorates to enhancing awareness of citizens and residents on the importance of following precautionary measures against the coronavirus, including wearing masks and social distancing in public places and shops.
