H1N1 detected in Bahrain

Bahrain woke up yesterday to social media network going abuzz with the news of the reappearance of Swine Flu (or H1N1). It was ‘reported’ in social media network that ‘Swine Flu (H1N1) has reappeared in the country and that it was rapidly spreading among patients in Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) and the Military Hospital (BDF).’

However, the matter remained only an active trend on local social media, without any official confirmation. The Saudi health authorities’ announcement, that several H1N1 cases were detected there, contributed in spreading the news about a possible outbreak of the disease in Bahrain.

It was only at 6pm that the Health Ministry confirmed the detection of some cases in the Kingdom. However, the ministry assured public that there was no reason to panic and all the patients were being treated with the same ordinary flu anti-viruses.
