Register camps or face action

The Supreme Camping Season Committee has asked the campers to camp in the allocated areas, stressing that camps that are not registered or against the rules will be removed. The committee has also urged the campers who must be above 21 years old to follow the security and safety requirements, stressing the need to register and receive the camping label before setting up the camp. The campers are asked to place the label in a clear and prominent place.

It said that booking for camping through fencing or installing signs, poles as well as afforestation work before the start of camping season scheduled on October 22, are not allowed.

Engagement in any political, charitable, cultural or competitive activity or gathering must have the approval of the Supreme Camping Season Committee, in coordination with the specialised authorities. Moreover, raising other than Bahrain’s flag on the camps is prohibited.

The committee emphasised the inadmissibility of the establishment of mosques and praying rooms in the permitted camping areas without its authorisation in coordination with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowment so as to preserve the sanctity and cleanliness of places of worship.

The committee urged campers to maintain their safety by providing safety equipment in tents like a fire extinguisher and a firstaid kit, not to use open fires or stoves inside tents and provide an independent venue for the kitchen. Other guidelines:

* Do not store any flammable materials and prevent the use of palm fronds in the camp in any form. Camp away from slopes, places of rain and floods, mountain heights, restricted areas or pipes.

* The use of speakers and the writing of inappropriate phrases on the camps’ walls has been prohibited. Campers have been asked to maintain the cleanliness of the camps by collecting garbage in bags and putting them in the allocated spots for garbage. Burning waste either during or after the end of the camping season has also been prohibited.

* The committee also prohibited establishing buildings of brick or cement, putting barriers or tires in the camping sites. Cabins are not allowed without prior permission from the Southern Area Municipality. The camp area should not exceed 900 square metres.

* The committee stated that barns are not allowed for any purpose. Keeping animals and hunting is also prohibited.

* The engagement in any action that would harm the environment and the wildlife is prohibited. It includes the destruction of trees and wild plants, levelling the ground by heavy equipment as well as laying asphalt concrete.
