HM King chairs regular weekly Cabinet session

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today chaired the regular weekly Cabinet session, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, at the Al-Sakhir Palace.
Team Bahrain’s efforts to face pandemic hailed
HM the King lauded the precautionary and preventive measures reinforced in the kingdom to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), praising the extraordinary cooperation of the Bahraini people with the public institutions that have harnessed all their potentials to combat the pandemic.
HM King Hamad valued highly and praised the ongoing tireless, dedicated and committed patriotic efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic under the leadership of HRH the Crown Prince, and with the participation of all the members of Team Bahrain, including the citizens and residents.
HM the King called on everyone to keep exerting their efforts with the same determination and commitment to achieve the aspired for results, a post-session statement by the Cabinet Secretary-General, Dr. Yasser bin Isa Al-Nasser, said.
Bahrain’s experience in fighting COVID-19 a success story
HM the King affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain -government and people- has faced the challenges created by the harsh conditions resulting from the global pandemic resolutely, willfully and steadfastly.
The Kingdom has been keen on mitigating the impacts of the virus at the local level in a way that has taken into account and preserved the health and safety of the citizens and residents, while maintaining the continuity of growth and progress in order to achieve more sustainable development for the citizens, through the launch of programmes and initiatives emanating from the financial and economic stimulus package.
HM King Hamad stressed that Bahrain’s outstanding management of the COVID-19 crisis is a success story that has drawn the world’s attention thanks to its accomplishment in controlling and adapting to the challenges of the exceptional circumstances created by the pandemic without facing any difficulties, or restricting the freedom of movement or imposing full or partial lockdown until now.
King congratulates Saudi Arab on 90th National Day
HM the King congratulated the Saudi King, government and people on their country’s 90th National Day, wishing Saudi Arabia further progress and prosperity, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Defence Minister, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al-Saud.
HM King Hamad prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless Saudi Arabia with ever-lasting security and stability, given its status as a strategic depth for Arab and Islamic countries and a country with a distinguished global weight, noting that the Saudi National Day embodies the country’s long and honourable history.
Peace declaration: Significant step towards achieving regional peace
HM King Hamad then referred to the declaration supporting peace signed recently between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel in Washington, in line with Bahrain’s vision to reach comprehensive peace as a strategic option to promote the peace and stability processes in the Middle East, which will contribute to consolidating global security and peace.
In this regard, HM the King affirmed that the signing of the declaration supporting peace is a significant historic step towards achieving comprehensive peace across the Middle East and realizing the aspirations of the peoples of the region and of all religions, for security, stability and progress, adding that the move emanates from the spirit of coexistence for which Bahrain has always been known.
“Among the goals that we envisioned and sought to achieve through the declaration supporting peace is to make the world recognize that peace is our message and strategic option and that tolerance and coexistence are among the most important characteristics of our authentic Bahrain identity. We are tolerant, and we love peace and coexistence,” HM the King said.
“True coexistence and real peace are those based on the acceptance of the other, and this is the essence of the Bahraini citizens and their deep-rooted characteristics. We boast that our people are among the kindest on earth, as everyone confirms, and this kindness has entitled Bahrain to be a beacon for intellectual, cultural, religious, and sectarian diversity,” he added.
King: Bahrain’s steps towards peace not directed against anyone
HM King Hamad expressed pride in the wider spread Arab and global welcome of the kingdom’s decision regarding the declaration supporting peace and the steps it has taken for the sake of achieving peace in the Middle East.
“We are pleased with the great and wide welcome of this historic step that has won global acclaim and has been lauded by organizations and countries from various continents,” HM the King said.
“We affirm that our steps towards peace and prosperity are not directed against any entity or power. In fact, they are in the interest of everyone and aim at ensuring good neighborliness and working for it.”
King reiterates Bahrain’s firm stance in support of Palestinians
HM the King reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's firm and unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause and commitment to achieving the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative.
Minister's report
Upon HM the King’s order, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented a report on the signing ceremony of the declaration supporting peace between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Israel, and the Peace Accord between the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel that took place at the White House in Washington on September 15, 2020.
