About 140,000 housing requests have been meeting to date, with the share of the social housing sector in the Arab Gulf Programme for Development reaching BD4 billion, Housing Minister Basim bin Yacob Al Hamer said yesterday.

The Housing Minister, who was speaking on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the ministry, noted that the cost of housing projects by the government is allocated over five decades from the country’s budget. He expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his continuous care for the housing sector in the Kingdom.

He said that the housing sector in the Kingdom was and continues to be at the top of government program priorities, headed by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

The Housing Minister hailed the royal order to build 40,000 housing units, which has resulted in the constructing five housing cities, including Salman City, Khalifa City, Sharq Al Hidd City, East Sitra City, and the suburb of Ramli, which highlights the constant care of HM the King for the housing sector.
