European Parliament corporate partnership discussed

Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri met yesterday through video conferencing with Group of Friends of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the European Parliament head Tomas Zdechovsky.

The virtual session was attended by Bahrain Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and Denmark, and European Union and NATO representative Dr. Bahia Jawad Al Jishi, and a number of members of the group. Al Doseri stressed the keenness of Bahrain to promote bilateral cooperation and exchange experience with the group, as well as advance the friendship in a way that serves common interests.

For their part, the head and group members welcomed Bahrain’s signing the Declaration of Peace with Israel. They lauded the Kingdom’s efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in the region, and expressed their desire to promote corporate partnership between Bahrain and the European Parliament. The two sides also discussed a number of topics of common concern during the meeting.

Promoting, protecting human rights Meanwhile, the Assistant Foreign Minister took part yesterday in a virtual forum entitled “Promoting and Protecting Human Rights: A Re-Dedication to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. The event was hosted by the US on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Al Doseri hailed the important role played by the UN and its constant efforts to promote human rights, and stressed the importance of constructive cooperation with its different agencies, in order to promote international cooperation in the human rights field.

The event was attended by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who underlined the need to draw back attention to the principles and values on which the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was based. A number of representatives of states, senior officials, and experts in the field of human rights, also participated in the event.
