Foreign Ministry receives award for volunteer work

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was honored for supporting and patronizing various voluntary initiatives and practices carried out by individuals and institutions in Bahrain. Undersecretary Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa expressed delight with the award bestowed on the ministry and other institutions at the closing ceremony of the 10th edition of HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Award for Volunteer Work.

She thanked HH Shaikh Isa and The Good Word for the award, stressing it would motivate further the spread of noble human values and social progress through unique volunteer work. The event was held to honor Bahraini front-liners who made outstanding contributions in mitigating the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Dr. Shaikha Rana commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Cabinet Affairs undersecretary and honorary president of the Good Word Society, in supporting various voluntary initiatives by individuals and institution. She praised the Good Word Society in advancing institutional volunteer work.

Dr. Shaikha Rana stressed the ceremony, which marked ten years of the award, was an important annual milestone in social and volunteer work that contributed to strengthening Bahrain’s efforts in community solidarity at the regional level.

She added the foreign ministry’s national duty is embodying the visions of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the wisdom of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and the aspirations of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister.

Dr. Shaikha Rana highlighted the clear and tangible role of the ministry’s departments and diplomatic missions abroad in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The ministry’s priority is the safety of residents in the Kingdom, she noted. Dr. Shaikha Rana said the current unprecedented challenges across the world are an opportunity to show patriotism and to intensify efforts to continue voluntary work.

She stressed that Bahrain has always been a pioneer in the fields of community service and volunteer work, thanks to the leadership of HM the King and the active roles played by public and private sectors, civil society institutions, and civil associations.
