Online inter-school debate and spell bee contests held

The New Millennium School-DPS Bahrain English Department organized two competitions through the digital platform. Participants coming from all the CBSE schools in the Kingdom took part in the third Annual Inter-School Debate-Reverberations-2020 and first Inter-School Spell Bee Contest – Spellathon 2020 on 26 and 27 September, respectively, For the debate, two participants from Grade XI and XII from six schools participated, debating for and against the motion “Artificial Intelligence-A boon to Humanity”.
One participant each from Grade IX and X, from seven CBSE schools, took part in the Spell Bee contest. In the debate, from the Proposition Stand, Harihar Pradeep of The New Indian School clinched place, while Nanditha Dileep of New Millennium School, DPS Bahrain, came second and Vishnu Priya Biju Nair of The Asian School third. From the Opposition Stand, Sreelakshmi Sreejith of Al Noor International School bagged first place, while Faiha Mariyam of The New Indian School and Muhammed Saleh of Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School came second and third, respectively.
For Spellathon, Shree Hamsini Balamurugan of The Asian School won the title followed by Maryam Tarique Al Fazal of Al Noor International School with Haritha Syju of New Millennium School, DPS finishing second and third places, respectively.
School chairman Dr. Ravi Pillai, Managing Director Geetha Pillai, and Principal Arun Kumar Sharma applauded the efforts put in by the teachers in successfully organizing the spectacular show in coordination with the Head Mistress (Activities and Administration), HOD English, and the Teachers. They also congratulated the winners and extended their wishes to the mentors and the parents.
