Batelco 95% coverage of the national 5G network in Bahrain

Batelco Telecom announced the successful activation of the 5G network coverage in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as the network is currently available in all governorates of the Kingdom and reaches 95% of the population, making Batelco the first in the national coverage of the 5G network, as well as in the list of companies The leading communications in the GCC countries.
In March 2019, Batelco signed an agreement with Ericsson, according to which the latter would build a nationwide 5G network and complete it within two years. Ericsson is the preferred technology partner of many leading telecom companies around the world, including AT&T, O2, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone in the United Kingdom and Germany. Because of its global reputation in this field. In June of the same year, Batelco announced that it was the first telecom company to introduce a commercial 5G network in Bahrain, and one of the first operators in the region.
Batelco Chief Executive Michael Venter said: “Providing national coverage for the fifth generation (5G) network in Bahrain is one of the most important strategic objectives of Batelco at the corporate and national level; Given its importance and role in achieving a fundamental transformation in the telecommunications sector, as this network will provide unlimited potential in the digital world. ”
Venter added, “At Batelco, we are keen to align our strategic goals with the Kingdom’s vision regarding the telecommunications sector and the digital economy, and we are also committed to being at the forefront of Bahrain’s digital transformation. We are now seriously investing in the fifth generation (5G) network to give both our customers and citizens in the Kingdom the best and latest communication solutions that currently exist in the world, as well as laying the foundation for providing the digital technologies and solutions that will be available for the next generation, which depend mainly on the generation network. Fifth".
Venter added, “Starting today, 5G users will enjoy ultra-fast service up to ten times the speed that users previously had, and their Internet experience will be enhanced with a short response time and the ability to process large data quickly and efficiently. Customers will feel these features when playing and broadcasting video clips or when using electronic games, and also when using virtual reality applications and other technologies that mainly depend on the Internet.
He continued, “The fifth generation (5G) technology is one of the modern technologies that requires some time to realize all its potentials and places of application to take full advantage of it. We will soon see the use of various types of devices for this network with the ability to synchronize information in real time, which in turn will contribute to enabling technologies such as autonomous vehicles, robots designed for the healthcare field, autonomous machines in heavy industries, and many other uses that will enrich the lives of societies and develop the fields of industry and the economy. around the world".
Venter concluded, “The entire Batelco team is very proud to activate the national 5G coverage locally, which is in line with the Kingdom's 2030 Economic Vision, and we are very grateful to the Board of Directors for their continuous support to be the leader in 5G network technology in Bahrain.”
The year 2020 marks a turning point for the fifth generation (5G) network technology, during which a large number of phone companies have launched mobile phones that support this technology, including Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO and LG. Thanks to the telecom companies' readiness for the new network and the availability of compatible phones at the present time, customers will be able to enjoy the 5G network experience starting today. As the foundations for this network are laid, the technology ecosystem will be completed.
