Govt hospitals to become self-managing
TDT | Manama
A programme to turn Government hospitals and primary health care into self-managing facilities are on the anvil.
This emerged using a weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
The meeting said that the programme would have its base on the health insurance law, which aims at providing integrated, high-quality health care which is flexible and sustainable.
The system, Cabinet viewed, should be able to attract investment and guarantees the freedom for people to approach a health service provider of their choice.
The meeting further said the programme would bring into the sector a fair competition, all the while protection the rights of the parties involved.
The Cabinet said it is referring a memorandum by the Supreme Council for Health in this regard to the Ministerial Committee for further action.
