HRH Premier’s initiative hailed by WHO chief

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s initiative to establish a UN Taskforce to mitigate the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) was hailed by World Health Organisation (WHO) director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
In a written message, Dr. Ghebreyesus expressed full support for the initiative launched by HRH Premier to establish the task force, called “Friends of the UN Secretary-General”, in the face of the pandemic on efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, during the “Bahrain Visions Forum: Shared Visions for a Successful Future” 2020.
He expressed thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his assertion of the Kingdom’s firm support for the WHO, and the tangible steps he is taking to ensure that health remains a top priority. He also extended congratulations to HRH Premier on the outstanding success of the “Bahrain Visions Forum: Shared Visions for a Successful Future”, organized on September 29, by the Court of the Prime Minister, in cooperation with WHO, on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 75) and the UN 75th Anniversary.
He affirmed that the annual forum has contributed significantly to supporting pluralism and mobilising international efforts to counter the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as ways to speed up recovery from them.
