COVID-19 Random tests today at 7 locations; toll touches 262

Bahrain is continuing to intensify its battle against the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak by swiftly raising the pace of its random tests.

Today, health officials are visiting Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Health Center, Bilad Al Qadim Center from 8 am to 1 pm to conduct random tests.

From 4 pm to 8 pm, officials will reach Sitra Mall, Saar Cultural and Sports Club, Isa Town Cultural and Sports Club, Al Ramli Complex.

The ministry said it is organizing daily random visits to seven to eight locations in the Kingdom including health centers, sports clubs, and local markets.

The number of examinations in each of the locations ranges from 300 to 400. In total, officials will conduct around 2,000 to 2,300 random tests on any given day.

As of now, the Kingdom has conducted 1,498,843 tests, since the detection of the first case in February this year.

On Tuesday, Health authorities here conducted 10,140 tests to detect 360 new cases, of which 101 are expatriate workers, 247 are contacts of active cases, and 12 are travel related.

The Health Ministry said it also recorded 673 recoveries on Tuesday bringing the overall number of patients cured of their infection here to 68,606.

Bahrain also lost the lives of 262 people in its battle to contain the outbreak, which has claimed over 1,054,613 lives worldwide.

There are currently 4,608 active coronavirus patients in the Kingdom, out of which 4,537 patients are healthwise stable.

The number of people receiving treatment at various virus facilities in the Kingdom now stands at 103, of which 71 are critically ill, health ministry tweeted.
