Commitment to precautionary measures a ‘national responsibility’

The Public Security is intensifying efforts to implement precautionary measures against coronavirus (COVID-19) amid growing numbers of residents committing violations. Stressing the importance of continuous commitment to contain the spread of COVID-19, Public Security Deputy Chief Major-General Abdullah Al Zayed said abiding precautionary measures is a “national responsibility”.

He assured the Police Directorates’ unwavering efforts to enhance awareness of citizens and residents on the importance of abiding by the precautionary measures against coronavirus, including wearing masks and social distancing in public places and shops. He revealed the registration of 26,596 violations related to wearing face masks at public places and shops since the enforcement of the order, adding that the concerned departments have organised 3,208 awareness campaigns and 6,030 steps to promote social distancing.

The Northern Governorate Police Directorate reported 1,561 violations related to the rule of social distancing and 6360 violations of not wearing masks at public places. It carried out 667 awareness campaigns. The Capital Governorate Police Directorate took 381 steps to ensure social distancing in the district, and reported 4,554 mask-related violations. It also held 870 awareness campaigns.

The Muharraq Governorate Police Directorate registered 1,315 social distancing violations and 6,749 mask-related violations. The department also organised 1,315 awareness campaigns. The Southern Governorate reported 2,388 social distancing violations and 3,641 mask-related violations. The department also held 412 awareness campaigns and disinfection operations. The Operations Directorate at the Public Security Presidency registered 5195 mask-related violations.

It also took 385 steps to protect social distancing. The General Directorate of Ports Security reported 97 mask-related violations. The General Directorate of Civil Defence carried 8,8691 disinfecting operations of buildings, government establishments and roads. It also carried out 364 training courses on correct disinfecting methods.
