Two die from COVID; 327 new cases

Two lives were taken by the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Bahrain yesterday, the Ministry of Health tweeted early this morning. The deceased included a 63-year-old Bahraini woman and a 48-year-old expatriate man, raising the virus death toll in the Kingdom to 275. The ministry expressed its condolences to the victims’ families.

Out of 9,086 tests conducted yesterday, 327 new cases were detected amongst 104 expatriate workers and 214 contacts of active cases, with nine being travel-related. Their detection brought the overall number of confirmed cases in Bahrain to 75,614 ever since the first case was reported in February.

There were also 441 new recoveries, bringing the total number of discharged individuals to 71,249. The total number of current active cases rose to 4,090. 57 are in critical condition while 104 are receiving treatment, while the remaining 4,033 cases are stable. The overall tests conducted in Bahrain increased to 1,548,011.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Health announced that 548 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), raising the total caseload to 111,116. The ministry’s spokesman Dr Abdullah Al Sanad said that three infected patients had passed away, raising the death toll to 658.
