Media must humanise : Bahrain journalist

Manama

Humanising the media discourse, opening to the others regardless of their backgrounds and understanding global values that inspire and guide media professionals are crucial to succeed in dealing with the media locally and internationally, a lecture has stressed. Dealing with the media in a changing world and in the age of technology, information and social communication requires an open mind that can coexist with others and accommodate to situations, Habib Toumi, a media figure, said in his lecture. “Media awareness goes beyond the skill of criticism and the ability to read the multiple layers of messages to empower the media person to see the others and understand their values and thus act rationally and intelligently with them,” Toumi said.

The lecture is part of selected lectures and workshops organised virtually by the Ministry of Information for media professionals and public employees to provide advanced training and enhance media capabilities. “True journalists are morally committed to developing themselves professionally, intellectually and culturally and to acquiring the latest technology-related skills that would make them excel in their media and human performance and gain the trust of the viewers, audience or readers.
