Midway superMarkets, one of the largest food centres in Bahrain, which has been operating in the Kingdom of Bahrain since 1962, announced on Sunday that Vijayan Popuz, the Director of retail operations, will leave the company today, after more than four decades with the Midway Market, a subsidiary of Ali Rashid Al-Amin.

Vijayan has worked for 66 years at Midway since 1980, where he is known as Fiji. Khaled Ali Al Amin, CEO of Midway, said in a statement that Vijayan did an excellent job with the company, setting a global standard for local food shopping. He added, “The entire company and generations of its employees and owners, in particular the late founder, the late Ali Rashid Al-Amin, owe their heartfelt thanks to Vijayan. “When I look back on my 40 years in Bahrain and Midway, I feel very happy and satisfied, the experiences we have had here together, the successes we celebrated, and above all the people I met in this company had a lasting impact on my life,” said Vijayan. “I will not forget Bahrain and its good people who have treated me over the years as one of them and I lived with them through thick and thin, and Bahrain is the biggest part of my life and I owe them always and forever.” Midway stated that Vijayan will focus on its activities in his home city in India and will operate and participate in several charitable projects.
