A total of 10,000 laptops will be given to Bahraini students from needy families, revealed Royal Institution for Humanitarian Works secretary-general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed. The project is part of the initiatives approved by His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs Representative His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Dr Al Sayed, also chairman of the Efforts and Follow-up Coordination Committee concerned with providing aid in the national campaign ‘Feena Al Khair’, said that it was in line with the decision issued by the Coordination Committee headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to assign the Royal Foundation for Humanitarian Action to organise the project.
The foundation formed a committee to coordinate efforts and follow up the distribution of donations and funds received within the campaign and within the initiatives approved by His Highness Shaikh Nasser. His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs formed a committee to coordinate efforts with the Education Ministry, which will distribute the laptops to Bahraini students.
Students will use the laptops as the new academic year starts with courses to be delivered virtually following the restrictions taken by the authorities to ensure the safety of students and school staff.
On this occasion, Dr Al Sayed expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Nasser and to everyone who supported the project.
He also praised the efforts exerted by all members of the Efforts Coordination and Follow-up Committee to make this initiative a remarkable success.
Dr Al Sayed said that this project comes within the third phase of the Coordination and Follow-up Committee of the ‘Feena Al Khair’ campaign concerned with the distribution of aid.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser approved a package of projects worth BD17.43 million that will benefit the citizens particularly those affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Part of the funds will also be used to support needy groups, productive families and business owners not registered in the insurance system.
