British Embassy role hailed in preserving human rights

National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) president Maria Khoury received British Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Steward Summers. She expressed her appreciation for the important role the British Embassy plays in strengthening bilateral co-operation in protecting and promoting a culture of human rights. The British diplomat was briefed on NIHR’s role in preserving human rights during the coronavirus pandemic for citizens and residents in general, and the rights of expatriate workers in particular.

Khoury said the institute paid field visits to isolation and rehabilitation centres to make sure of the precautionary measures against COVID-19. Summers expressed his appreciation to NIHR’s efforts to protect and promote human rights, emphasising the British Embassy’s readiness to co-operate and provide technical support to achieve NIHR’s goals and competencies.
